Support & FAQ

Answers to common questions about Sub Cue.

Getting Started

What is Sub Cue and how does it work?

Sub Cue is a subscription management app that helps you track all your recurring payments in one place. It provides analytics, reminders, and helps you avoid unexpected charges — with preloaded subscriptions for your region to get you started quickly.

How do I set up my first subscription?

When you first open Sub Cue you set your currency, review access options, then choose your setup: Preloaded Subscriptions, D.I.Y Install, or Import Backup. Preloaded includes up to 10 popular services for your region. Tap any item to update dates and pricing.

What are preloaded subscriptions?

Starter templates based on your currency — up to 10 popular services. If you already use a service like Netflix, open it and set your real billing date and amount, then delete any you don't use.

Managing Subscriptions

Can I track business expenses separately?

Yes. Each subscription has a Business Expense toggle. In Analytics you can filter to show only business expenses, which works alongside the financial-year settings for tax reporting.

How do I organize subscriptions by category?

Assign each subscription to categories like Entertainment, Productivity, or Music. You can also create custom categories in Settings > Advanced Features > Custom Categories, and they feed the analytics breakdowns.

What happens when I mark a subscription as inactive?

Inactive subscriptions are excluded from analytics, monthly totals, and upcoming renewals, but stay in your list for historical reference.

Analytics & Financial Features

How do financial years work in Sub Cue?

Sub Cue sets your financial year based on your currency (e.g. July 1 for Australia, January 1 for the US) and uses it for Committed, Estimated, and Previous year calculations. You can change it in Settings > Financial Year Settings.

What's the difference between Committed, Estimated, and Previous?

Committed is what you've actually spent so far this financial year. Estimated is the projected full-year cost of all active subscriptions. Previous is the total from last financial year. All respect your financial-year start date.

Can I export my subscription data?

Yes — Settings > Data Management > Export Data. TXT export is available in Free Mode; full access adds Sub Cue Backup, CSV, and TSV. Exports include subscription details, monthly activity, star ratings, business-expense flags, and spending history.

Customization & Themes

How do I change the app's theme?

Tap the Themes tab. Sub Cue has 6 themes: Deep Memory, Bubblegum Blitz, Midnight Mojito, Pixel Punch, Daydream Drip, and Sneaky Neon — each in light or dark mode.

Can I hide subscription notes for privacy?

Yes — Settings > Advanced Features > Hide All Notes hides every note globally. You can still unlock individual notes with Face ID / Touch ID when needed.

Privacy & Data

Is my subscription data private?

Completely. Sub Cue stores all data locally on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers or shared with third parties — your subscriptions, activity, ratings, and notes never leave your device.

How does Face ID / Touch ID protection work?

Sensitive data like personal notes and monthly-activity edits is protected with biometric authentication, and you can globally hide all notes for extra privacy.

Can I use Sub Cue offline?

Yes. Everything is stored locally, so all features work offline — you only need internet for the initial download and purchases.

Free Mode & Full Access

What's included for free?

Sub Cue is free to use — no trial, no time limit. Free Mode tracks up to 10 subscriptions with monthly or yearly billing cycles, due dates, core analytics, the Deep Memory theme, and TXT export.

How much does Sub Cue cost?

Free Mode is free forever. Full access is a Yearly subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase — exact pricing shows in the app and varies by region. Full access unlocks unlimited subscriptions, all billing cycles, advanced analytics, every theme, private notes, and full import/export.

Do I keep my data if I cancel?

Yes. All data is stored locally, so it stays on your device even if you cancel — and you can export it any time from Settings > Data Management.
